With ongoing public health concerns, Austrian food couriers can ensure the delivery of safe and hygienic meals to their customers by following these 10 top tips:
DO use thermal bags. These are essential for keeping the temperature of food during transit. Restaurant partners expect couriers to use thermal bags for every delivery.
DO clean and disinfect your thermal bag regularly. This will prevent contamination of food deliveries. Replace any damaged or ripped bags.
DO wash your hands thoroughly and regularly, with hot soapy water, especially after using the toilet, eating, smoking, handling waste. Couriers may use partner facilities where permitted.
DO wash prior to coming to work and ensure that clothing/uniforms are clean and regularly laundered.
DO tie back long hair.
DO keep fingernails short and clean.
DO cover all cuts or wounds with a clean dressing.
DON’T work if you are ill. Especially if you have:
Diarrhoea
Vomiting
Unusual discharge from ear, nose or throat
Visibly infected skin lesions or wounds
Wait 48 hours after symptoms end before returning to work.
DON’T handle unpackaged food items - This will reduce the risk of contamination
DON’T smoke when handling or delivering food. Smoke can contaminate food.
