Protect yourself while you ride

Couriers are exposed to a number of risks on the road. To help keep you safe and minimise these potential risks, we’ve compiled a list of the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that we recommend be used on each delivery run below.

Recommended e-bike PPE

Helmet

  • Should meet European standard EN 1078

  • Helmets should be fastened

  • The helmet should be a comfortable fit, with minimal movement when fastened

  • You should replace your helmet every 3-5 years, or after an impact

High vis Outer-Wear

  • Should meet ÖNORM EN ISO 20471

  • Is to be worn over your other clothes and should be able to be fastened at the front.

Eye protection

  • Safety-style sunglasses that are shatterproof

  • These should be free from scratches and must be cleaned to ensure visibility is not affected

Summer protection

  • Apply sunscreen every 2-4 hours

  • Long-sleeved shirt

  • Consider high vis vest to wear over clothes

Winter protection

  • Neck Gaiter to keep your neck protected

  • Wear layers of clothing. Wearing multiple layers of clothing forms insulation for your body heat. Aim to wear at least three layers of clothing.

  • Waterproof jacket

  • Waterproof pants

Shoes

  • Avoid wearing open-toe shoes such as thongs or sandals

  • Lieferando recommends that couriers use non-slip, covered shoes
